The Turkish Trade Registry Gazette (TTSG) is an official publication that discloses all legally required commercial information to the public, such as the establishment of companies, capital changes, appointments of authorized persons, and liquidation. Its primary purpose is to ensure transparency (publicity) and legal certainty in commercial life.
Basic Functions and Meanings:
➜ Official Registration: It is the central and official record of companies' legal transactions. ➜ Principle of Publicity: It makes commercial information available to third parties (competitors, banks, suppliers). ➜ Legal Evidence: Serves as definitive evidence in courts and official institutions. ➜ Digital Access: Can be queried online via TOBB and e-Government.
What is the Trade Registry Gazette?
Many professionals tend to view this gazette as a legal requirement or merely a paperwork task. However, this is a strategic misconception. The Trade Registry Gazette is the most concrete reflection of the principle of publicity (public disclosure), which is the cornerstone of Turkish commercial law.
The Turkish Trade Registry Gazette (TTSG) is the only official platform where commercial enterprises and companies announce all changes in their legal status to the public, in accordance with Turkish Commercial Code (TCC) No. 6102. It is published by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade.
In the past, these announcements were published in print, and their legal effects began the following day. Today, thanks to the digital backbone called MERSIS (Central Registry System), a registration process approved by the Trade Registry Directorate can be published in the gazette within just two hours. This development fundamentally changes the pace and transparency of commercial life.
